This weeks lesson were simple.
We started a new stimulus which will upgrade our marks and even if the students in my class were at a pass they would be able to get higher marks and also get be able to improve on other stuff such as group work, voice projection and other skills.
Each group of 3 chose a envelope which had a different stimulus in it. It could of consisted of images, writing, newspaper cut outs and information about a different topic.
In my group were Georgee and Shakelun and our stimulus was to do with a piece of writing, a story. About a girl called Matilda who lived with her aunt and always lied about stuff. She rang out for an emergency fire brigade while her aunt was out and there wasn't even any fire. They came and there was non. So the fire brigade left, then there started a real fire which blazed and she cried for help but neighbours did not believe her. Her aunt had come back and the house was burning while Matilda was still inside burning with it.
In our group we discussed ideas about what to create a performance, inspiring from the piece of writing. We all decided on a family of 2 sisters and a mother. One of the sisters always lied (Stephanii) about things the other sister did (Bonnie) when she actually didn't. One day Stephanii blamed Bonnie on dumping her own boyfriend on purpose, yet the mother didn't believe her of course. Then the mother realized and saw a text on Bonnie's phone. Stephanii got a phonecall and the mother over heard and realized, then Bonnie was punished by being grounded for a year and Stephanii got all of Bonnie's pocket money.
Bonnie still persisted and still denied it although she had a smirk on her face the whole time.
These stimuluses also give morals and its a very good way to put the ideas across.
In the second half of the lesson we went to the computer room to complete parts of the checklist we were obeyed to complete for the 1st of July.

Amy's Lesson 2.
- In Amy's 2nd lesson she did more excersises with us involving team work and noises.
- For example in one excersise we had to pretend to make a machine in groups using people as parts on the machine with sound effects.
- We also worked in opposing groups to see which team worked better.
- I think the lessons with Amy are more fun and entertaining. That we explore in depth about things not that we dont normally learn about. Such as small things that may help us alot in our performance, for example ways to help increase projection without hurting our throats and damaging them.
- The warm up excersises are different and fun such as different sound excersises using the bases of our imagination and also covering more specific things. These were things like movement, stage gestures, facial expressions when we talk.

26th April 2011
We missed the first hour of our 2 sessions.
- We continued practising our devised pieces, in my group were Georgee & Shakelun
- In our group we decided upon the short play 'Class' in the book 'Forty Short Plays'
- We worked on improvising & using gestures. We did this by instead of remembering our lines exact we added some if we forgot and used gestures to keep the audience focused and entertained.
- We also performed a few pieces in each group. Pieces of the play were were performing. I also noticed that many groups had an individual play, different topics and i gave feedback to other groups to help them improve.
10th May 2011
In this weeks lesson, we did a few things.
In the first hour session we continued working on our devised performances in our groups however in my group of Georgee & Shakelun miss did change it to another play called 'Auditions'. Where it involved a young lady going to audition for a play piece however she acted very enthusiastic although she was very nervous and tripped up a few times. The director sends the next one in but this one is actually the young ladies aunty who is 'fake auditioning' to make her niece look good. So the aunt looks super bad and messes up big time so the audition role goes to the young lady. We suggested this change because the lines in our previous choice in play did not include enough lines & performance for each character to get a grade on.
In our group we realized that this is much longer and would be harder to remember the lines, however i got the hang of the script very intellectually without even knowing and we acted it out to the whole class and i got good feedback, i was very happy with my performance. The feedback we got were good, and improvements were for Georgee to be more enthusiastic in her performance.
In the next hour we went to the ict room to complete Career Guide Presentations which is about a chosen career which is involved in the Drama Guide. We included features on what to do in the job, what does the application require and the qualifications etc.

Tuesday 22nd May 2011
On Tuesday's session we did more practising to perfect our performances. This was too easy for me because i felt i knew my lines really well and i had alot of confidence in my lines.
Shakelun had learnt her lines better.
In the second hour we watched each and everyone's performance. This was good to see who's performances needed improvement and also to recognize our own improvements and own features. I think the best performance was Redzy's because they had worked hard to memorize their lines and it was good how they acted it out but they also needed to have more expression and emotion in their speaking parts.
In our performance we realised that Georgee needed to be more expression in her voice and act more like she was enthusiastic in being tired and sarcastic. She just seemed her normal self depending on people's views.
I think my part in the performance was good because i learned all my lines and i was very enthusiastic in my acting.

Tuesday 11th May 2011.
On Tuesdays sessions, we practised our devised performances in our groups for the first hour. This was good because i already knew my lines off by heart and it gave me the chance to improve my skills and to have more confidence in my work.
Also, it gave Shakelun the chance to improve her memory of the lines.
We talked about how we would set up the staging and what other things we could add to the piece to make it more interesting and better.
In the second hour of the session, we went to the computer room to finish off our career guides & print them off. We also discussed targets in drama and what we could do to improve in the career we have chosen also we discussed the skills we already have and what we were faulty on and ways to improve on that.
This was good because it helped me understand the importance of choosing specific targets and the importance of understanding my improvements and skills.

Tuesday 29TH March 2011
Tuesdays lesson was very simple indeed.
We focused on our script reading and contrast in characters.
On the first session of our 2 hours, we did some excersises.
Such as 'The Sunshines On' & 'Cat and Mouse' and a new excersise which was in an old programme, i forgot the specific name.
It consisted of the group standing in a circle, and one person would do a funny walk, action, or walk and funny face, into the centre, choose a person and look into their eyes and do the same walk to that person and stand in their place while that person does there own thing and so on. This helped us understand creativity in creating a character with contrast and exaggeration, also facial expressions by using an excersise which included all 3 of those skills in practise.
In the second hour we did practising of our scripts, however we got to choose our own scripts from a choice of books. Me and Georgee chose 40 Short plays, and we were going to choose 'Fate' however, we had a new memeber to our group, Shakelun, and we changed our play to 'Class' and this was about 3 ladies on a bench talking about the definition of 'Class' and different manners of it. We decided on this because of the topic and the structure of the script.
Some performed close to the end and we discussed how they contrasted their characters and how well they succeeded, they contrasted well as they worked together in their gorups. Redzy's group succeeded and so did Tia's group because they showed individual work and worked well in their chosen groups.

Tuesday 22ND March 2011
On Tuesdays lesson, we had a visitor in, her name was Amy.
She took our 2 hour sessions and did a few excersises with us which helped us alot.
At the start of the first session, she got us to stand in a space, arms space apart and did a few stretches with us which involved co-ordination and balance. They prevented us from injury and vocal injury. For example, stretching really tall, then making ourselves really small. Also using facial expressions to warm the muscles up in our face. We did excersises which involved getting on the floor and do a strengthening excersise.
In the second session we did a fun excersise which made me feel very embarrassed however it was good to excersise our vocal skills. Talking gibberish. We had to create a conversation on any subject using gibberish language. A few performed and we went through each one a few times because Amy helped us perfect our vocal projection because if we were practising in that tone + pitch everyday, we would hurt our vocal cords.
We used a technique where we pretended to 'yawn' and then say the speech. This projects the voice more without hurting our vocal cords. This helped us within our vocal practising and understanding of characters, it helped the understanding of the characters the way they project their speech and the way they talk in their peformance.

Tuesday 1ST March Vocal And Movement!!
In today's lesson, elaborated in a thing called 'Given Circumstances'. The learning objectives were 'To establish what your characters 'Given Circumstances' are' and 'To learn what a super objective is and how this applies to the motivation of a character' and also 'To be able to show the super objective of your character in a short sentence'.
In the first session, we learnt that a characters 'Super Objective' is something that their role is based on, almost a mission. For example. 'My characters super objective is to get the children to bed'. Knowing my characters super objective also helps acting and subtly showing the audience what your super objective is by acting clearly and using good vocal and movement skills..
Also we learnt about 'Given Circumstances', these are based on The 3 P's.
Place
People
Problem
Its to do with when a character has to create scene with only the given circumstances of creating a place, people (characters) and a problem and this helps create more imagination and creativity skills.
In the second session we discovered a thing called ;Subtext' this identifies a phrase such as
'That dress looks lovely on you'
to its hidden or implyment meaning of
'Omg that dress is horrible on you'
It creates a different view on each sentence. Especially the emotion expression in which the sentence is projected.

Tuesday 8TH March Vocal And Movement!!
In today's lesson we elaborated more on vocal skills. The learning objectives were to 'To understand how intonation plays a significant part in engaging an audience' and 'To concentrate on how important clarity is to the speaking of a text'.
In the first lesson we used alot of our vocal skills by doing 2 excersises.
1. This excersise was based on the whole group sitting in a circle and by one by one saying the phrase 'I Killed Him' in a different perspective. Changing the view on the sentence by varying the vocal skills, perhaps emphasizing certain words or changing pitch in the voice. Next was to do the same process however perform a small action which is thought to pair with the sentence or create an appropriate message towards the audience. This helps expression and exaggeration in speech and also projection volume by using imagination in the way the audience could interperate the way you say a certain phrase.
2. This excersise was based on a series of 'Tongue Twisters' being shown on the board. However, together as a class we were to pronounce the Twister once, twice, thrice, and then 5 times and at the present time get faster and faster and soon we ended up tripping over the words. This helped us pronounce words faster, clearer and control projection and pace.
We also learnt that a thing called Proxemics can affect the reaction of the audience. It is where you use space and control movement and gestures in between the space of you and the opposing actor/ess.
It can affect the reaction by creating a different emotion, for example, if the characters are close together and gaining contact, this may show a romantic emotion. Also this helps create a relationship between the actor/esses and the audience.
After break, we practised saying different sentences in different emotions. For example.
A: Cake is very yummy.
B: Dogs are so cute.
A: I hate cold weather
B: Why am i crazy
& in partners one person is A and the other B and you can pronounce these in different emotions. It doesn't matter what the sentence IS its HOW you say it.
Then shortly afterwards, we practised the Blood Brothers script in our partners. We kept in mind the subtext is used so we used our vocal skills more by emphasizing words with emotion.
